Hello everyone. :) I'm glad you want to learn how I trained to run my first marathon race with a time of 3 h, 16 min, and 13 sec. Enjoy. :)

I am still in the process of typing my training diary. Check back frequently to see if I'm done with it. :) Meanwhile, have a look at my other pages and say "Hello!" to my guestbook. :)
In this chart you see that I increased my weakly mileage from zero to 52.9 miles within just 6 weeks. During that week, I felt like my body is falling apart. After that week I decreased my weakly mileage nearly evenly over a period of seven weeks until I reached the marathon week. This training plan is not one which corresponds to the "maximum increase of weakly mileage should be no more than 10 %". But it worked to prepare myself to run a 3:16 h marathon after having started running only 16 weeks before. :) (From week 32/2001 to week 34/2001 I was injured with Iliotibial Band Friction Syndrome. As a result I couldn't run at all. During that time I did lots of crosstraining, which I still do, and I used the cross-country skiing machine a lot.) After the marathon my weakly mileage and the length of my long run stabilized at a lower level.
