My body was in its maximum fitness state so far. :) I ran the Chicago Lakefront 50 Mile Ultramarathon. I was the 4th finisher overall, and the 2nd male finisher!!!!! Again, in October 2005, I was the 2nd fastest male in the midwest and in the "Einzugsgebiet" of the Chicago Marathon over a distance of 50 miles. :) Check out my running results page for more details.

I finally visited a country south of the Rio Grande / Río Bravo del Norte: Ecuador . Check out our 1432 (!) pictures. :) I am also in the process of preparing a PowerPoint slide show about our trip. I enjoyed my time in Ecuador very much, and will definitely visit this beautiful country with the many friendly people "and many problems" again in the future. :)

I started a new position as a synthetic, organic postdoc in the research group of Prof. Helquist at the University of Notre Dame. Now I am doing natural product synthesis, specifically, I am working on the Iejimalides. These compounds are interesting since they have anti-cancer activity. With this experience, I should qualify for research and/or development positions in the pharmaceutical industry.

I completed my first marathon race in 3 hours, 16 min, and 13 seconds!! It was the Atlanta Marathon. I was # 50 out of 683 finishers. You can read more about it on my Running and marathon training pages.
